Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

Open RenoProgress and tap the + button to add your first house. Inside a house, add rooms, and inside each room, add a project (like “Kitchen Remodel” or “Master Bath Refresh”). Once you have a project, start adding photos by phase — Before, Demolition, Prep, Painting, Finishing, and After.

What is the “ghost overlay” on the camera?

When you tag a photo with a viewpoint (like “from the kitchen doorway”), the camera shows a faint version of your earlier shot overlaid on the viewfinder. Line up the new photo with the ghost to get matched-angle before-and-after shots that compare cleanly.

How does iCloud sync work?

RenoProgress syncs through your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit service. Sign in to iCloud on your iPhone and iPad with the same Apple ID and your projects, photos, and notes appear on both devices. Your data is stored in your private iCloud database — we never see it.

If sync seems stuck, check Settings → iCloud Sync inside RenoProgress for the last sync time, and make sure iCloud Drive is enabled in iOS Settings.

What does RenoProgress Pro unlock?

The free version lets you track one project end-to-end with full access to photos, budget, materials, contacts, tasks, and inspiration. RenoProgress Pro is a one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks:

How do I restore Pro after reinstalling or on a new device?

Open Settings → RenoProgress Pro inside the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you’re signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to purchase Pro originally.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Pro users can export a full PDF report of any project, including photos by phase, budget summary, materials, and contacts. You can also generate a time-lapse video of a project’s photos to share or save.

Will RenoProgress work without iCloud?

Yes. If iCloud isn’t available, RenoProgress automatically falls back to a local-only database on your device. Your data stays on the phone, and sync resumes when iCloud is available again.

I found a bug or have a feature request.

We’d love to hear from you. Email jmarino1124@gmail.com with as much detail as you can — screenshots, steps to reproduce, and your device model are especially helpful.

How do I delete my data?

To remove a single project, room, or house, swipe left on it in the list. To wipe all RenoProgress data, delete the app from your device. To also remove the iCloud copy, go to iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → RenoProgress → Delete Data.
